MSTA is again providing the BEST: Building Educational Success Together winter retreat training for school teams.

This is a unique opportunity to experience research-based school improvement strategies at very low cost. Also, MSTA pledges to provide assistance and follow-up experiences for schools that commit to taking the NEA KEYS 2.0 Survey and using the results in their school improvement journey

The training will include:

This training will prepare school teams to facilitate their own school improvement using research based training modules and the NEA KEYS 2.0 survey. All the tools and modules focus on developing the research-based characteristics of high performing schools. One of the primary characteristics of a high performing school is its collaboration on problem solving and decision-making.

MSTA works to foster a collaborative relationship among all the stakeholders in a school community and expects team members to include the principal, teachers, support personnel, parents and in high schools, students. Participation in this training will be limited to a maximum of ten school teams of no more than seven members per team.

The training will start on Wednesday evening February 1, 2006 and conclude on Saturday afternoon February 4, 2006. Participants will be provided double occupancy housing for Wednesday through Friday nights, continental breakfast, lunch, and breaks on Thursday through Saturday. Individuals who need to be released from their classroom responsibilities must secure that permission from the appropriate supervisor(s). The school must cover the costs of the release time and a $30.00 registration fee per participant. MSTA covers the housing, meals, materials and training costs as outlined above. Dinners on Thursday and Friday are not provided. The participants must commit to attending the entire retreat and working on assignments in the evenings with their teammates.

Please send the names of those individuals in your school’s team, using the registration form below, to Wendy Busse at MSTA, 140 Main Street, Annapolis, MD, 21401, no later than December 22, 2005.

Due to limited space, registrations received first will be honored first. Confirmations and further information will be sent to accepted participants by January 10, 2006.
